PARTS OF THE MODEL:
Colors

S. sepioidea produce different body colorations by utilizing chromatophores, irridophores and leucophores in their skin. Chromatophores produce yellow, red and brown, irridophores and leucophores reflect ambient light in blue and green.

Since squid patterns and displays are based mostly on contrast rather than color, we decided to draw the model in shades of grey.

● White - opaque white, internal organs are not visible
● Pale - translucent, beak and internal organs are visible
● Yellow - yellow chromatophores expanded

● Gold - yellow chromatophores expanded with irridophores and leucophores shining through
● Brown - brown and red chromatophores expanded in low density
● Black - brown chromatophores expanded in high density
● Flicker - Pastel background (iridescent pink, lilac, purple or blue-grey) flickering in a stroboscopic effect
